The Performance Medicine for Heifer Rearing Program was designed exclusively for our producers based on the most up to date international research and technology. The goal of this program is to reduce disease and mortality while enhancing long term production through optimized calf rearing.

As a part of the program you receive one-on-one expert consultation, benchmark reporting, on-farm analysis, and access to a variety of tools and monitoring solutions.

The Performance Medicine for Heifer Rearing Program focuses on colostrum, nutrition, and general sanitation to evaluate and maintain calf health and optimal growth.  It is comprised of:

• Calf-rearing questionnaire
• Access to a calf app for for recording colostrum administration, growth, and treatment/disease events
• Weekly blood total protein evaluations
• Colostrum culturing
• Brix refractometer for monitoring total solids of colostrum and milk
• Hygiene audits using a luminometer
• Water analysis
• Information packages and protocols
• Calf growth monitoring
• Lung ultrasound
• Calf nutrition recommendations
• Data analysis and benchmarking
• 1:1 Consulting, recommendations and business reviews

Mastitis is a pain for both the cow and the producer.  Knowing the cause of your mastitis will allow you to make the best treatment decision for your cow, and provide you with information on how to prevent future cases. Culturing is done at the Hickson location in our milk culturing lab by one of our registered technicians.  Clients can give samples to their veterinarian or drop them off at Hickson themselves.  Culture results are texted or emailed within 24-48 hours, with treatment recommendations provided by your herd veterinarian.
